Where does Santa Clause come from?

Hollanda'da Sinterkoas, Fransa'da Pere Noel, İngiltere'de Father Christmas, Amerika'da Santa Claus ve Almanya'da Heilige Nikolaus hikayelerinin aslı St. Nicholas'dır.

Bugün pek çok ülkenin baş azizi olan St. Nicholas'ın ölüm tarihi olan 6 Aralık'ta törenler düzenlenir, çocuklara hediyeler verilir ve bu kutlamalar Noel Yortusuna değin uzayarak yeni bir yıl özelliği kazanır.

1951-55 Yıllarında St. Nicholas'ın aslında Santa Claus (Noel Baba) olduğu ortaya çıkarılmış ve konu ülkemizde önem kazanmıştır. Radyo ve gazeteler bir çok yayın yapmış, 1955 yılında Noel Baba adına posta pulu çıkarılmıştır. Daha sonraları Demre'de Noel Baba şenlikleri düzenlenmeye başlanmıştır.

.S. 245 yılında Fethiye yakınlarında Patara kentinde doğan St.Nicholas (Aziz Nikola, Santa Claus, Heilige Nikolaus, Noel Baba) ölümü olan İ.S. 326 yılına değin Anadolu'da yaşamış bir azizdir.
